Board Director

We are looking for a Director who is a financial professional and qualified accountant to join our Board.

The position is for a Non-Executive Director in a voluntary role (expenses are paid). We are looking for someone that wants to help ETA drive the organisation forward through the provision of great quality products and services, with a strong strategic business plan and in line with our regulatory requirements.

Our Mission:

  • Unlike banks, we’re not-for-profit. That means we’re completely owned by our members, with no external shareholders.
  • We build wealth rather than debt because our members save a minimum of £15 a month, and any profits we make go right back into the credit union.
  • We serve over 30,000 members in Scotland’s North East, East and Borders regions, through easy saving, affordable lending, mortgages and debt support.
  • At the heart of our communities we help our members access funds when they it most, build their savings to grow a nest egg for life’s uncertainties, and develop habits which helps them to achieve a strong financial future.
  • Through our values of Respect, Ownership, Member-First, Teamwork and Excellence, we’re committed to making a meaningful impact in our local communities.

In return you will be provided with the opportunity to shape a growing organisation, help people build financial resilience, make decisions about the future direction of the Credit Union, and work with a Board committed to financial education and financial inclusion for all.

Board members are asked to commit up to one day (for reading board papers) and potentially two evenings per month. Two weekends per year for strategy sessions are also required.

You must be a member of the credit union to stand for the Board.
